Alone in the office of Randall & Hopkirk (Deceased), Jeff is visited by a pale woman, dressed entirely in white, who tells him she's come to haunt him. More specifically, Tallulah Joplin wants to find the whereabouts of Dave Day, who she claims is threatening to kill her. Naturally, he comes to the logical conclusion that she really is haunting him. Not only is her appearance reminiscent of his partner, but she also refers to Marty in the present tense. Thanks to Jeannie, Jeff soon discovers that she's not dead, but who is she, and is Dave Day really trying to kill her? It transpires that Tallulah knows both Dave Day and Marty from the Terrapin Club, back in the pre-R&H days when Jeff was a solicitor and Marty a singer and tap dancer at the Terrapin Club, a career that he is determined to resurrect in limbo. While never brilliant, GHOSTS FROM THE PAST starts reasonably promising, but eventually degenerates into stupidity, with the usual over-the-top meglomaniac killing off people in particular nasty fashion once they've outlived their usefulness. There are some good lines in here, but overall nothing we haven't really seen anywhere before. If you enjoyed the TV series then it's probably worth giving it a go to tide you over until season two, but more casual viewers would probably find this a bit of a disappointment. BACK TO THE TOP |
