Last time out, I criticised The Legacy of Merlin for falling into that old Charmed trap of having one of the girls fall for the first guy they see.  Well, here we go again..

Well, almost.  This time around, Prue doesn't fall head over heels in lust with the subject of her latest photographic assignment.  Instead, she prefers his political rival, but before we get too carried away, Phoebe has the hots for P3's new bartender.

As has been the case with several of the recent Charmed novels, Prue's latest job provides our starting point, with the would-be politician also a collector of ancient artifacts.  And guess who helps release the spirit trapped within one of them?  Yep, step forward Prue Halliwell...

Still searching for a more active power, Phoebe wishes that she can help save more innocents.  Helped by the unleashed demon, this wish comes true, but not in the way she planned.

One of the most disappointing things about Charmed - particularly the novels - is that by targetting younger viewers it often fails to take full advantage of a potentially good idea.

Okay, so the idea of an overload of power isn't startling original - think Buffy in Earshot, Cordelia in Angel, even Prue in Primose Path, and had the idea been developed better it could have been interesting. However, as usual it isn't and the result is yet another run-of-the-mill adventure for the Halliwell sisters. BACK TO THE TOP
