A one-parter, CEMETERY OF LOST LOVE bridges the gap between HEART OF THE SLAYER and the PAST LIVES cross-over.

As such, the plot can be summed up quite easily. So here goes...

Out on patrol, Buffy dusts a vamp who's just about to bite his girlfriend. Despite her purple hair, she's not a member of SHADO, but she is pretty pissed off by this.

Weird things involving maggots and rats then start to affect Buffy. Leaving the others to do the research, she goes out on patrol again but before Giles can say "Buffy's walking into a trap", Buffy has walked into a trap and she finds herself tied up in the graveyard. As you do.

Imprisoned by the purple-haired girl and a bunch of zombies, Buffy has to be rescued by Spike, who then has the mojo put on him in order to give us a cameo appearance from Dru.

As you can see, it's hardly great stuff. The girl's revelation that she wanted to be turned is a bit of a surprise, but that's about it. A bit of dusting, some weirdness and some fights in the cemetery don't really make a particular enthralling plot, but you can't really expect that much from a one-off.

The artwork is okay, but I'm not really a fan of Cliff Richards' work these days.

All in all, another fairly average offering from Dark Horse. Their longer stories tend to drag things out too much, but the one-parters don't really offer anything of substance. CEMETERY OF LOST LOVE is no real exception. BACK TO THE TOP
