After the arrival of the annoying Lucy Hanover, I had feared that THE BLOOD OF CARTHAGE would involve plenty of Ghost Roads-style bollocks.

Fortunately, Christopher Golden steers clear of that one as once the former Slayer fills us in, she's gone. Hopefully never to return.

Meanwhile, Buffy has to contend with the fact that skimping on her homework can have major repercussions. And we're not just talking about getting a D in her History exam.

While the rest of the Scooby Gang sit around, Spike shows us and we learn more about his connection with the Blood of Carthage.

Storywise, things do seem to be picking up, although it does seem a little bit of a "team-up against the Slayer" type of thing. The art isn't brilliant, but there are some good things - the flashback sequence and the effect of vampire staking.

An improvement over part 2 then - let's hope this continues over the next two parts. BACK TO THE TOP
