Visitors to this site will have noticed that many of the reviews of ITV series will refer to the inclusion or otherwise of the production frontcaps and endcaps.

The third season of THE AVENGERS is particularly interesting as it features two different frontcaps and three different endcaps.

The full details have been pulled together for an article for TRANSDIFFUSION, but the tables below summarise the information.

The season was in production from 24 April 1963 through to 20 March 1964, but the episodes were shown not shown in production order.

The presentation changes are as follows:

- the frontcap changed from a serif one to a sans serif one ("ABC presents")

- the endcap initially changed from a serif one to a short-lived sans serif one ("sans I") before the final one ("sans 2") was introduced.

As can be seen from the above table, the frontcap changed on TROJAN HORSE, the endcap first on THE WHITE ELEPHANT and then again on THE OUTSIDE-IN MAN. The table below shows how viewers would have seen these changes on-screen:
