Picking
up from last month's opening chapter, the concluding part of STRANGE
BEDFELLOWS opens with the gang filling each other in on their
adventures the night before.
Angel
and Wesley are soon checking out the vampire brothel scene, while the
LAPD in the form of Detective Kate Lockley, are also investigating the
congressman's death. Only this time she needs a body to show her superiors,
which is pretty difficult when you're dealing with a vampire.
It's
nice to see Kate used, especially since she has to have an actual suspect,
and this part of the plot was quite well done. Unfortunately, Cordelia
is as under-used as ever and Wesley only really getting to play the role
of sidekick (aside from trying to avoid the attentions of the vampire
prostitutes and hitting on a girl cop).
I'm
still not convinced about the artwork either. Some of it is good - such
as Angel staking Candy's boyfriend - but some of it seems pretty dodgy.
Wesley looks like an older Harry Potter and some shots of Angel look a
bit strange - a couple seemed more reminiscent of the Daily Mirror's
Garth than David Boreanaz. The girl vamps seemed to be very pneumatic,
so you'd expect them to cover anyone staking them with silicone rather
than dust!
Still,
at least it was an improvement over the first part.
