The Hellmouth (a.k.a.
Sunnydale, CA) has drawn vampires, witches,
and other demons to its powerful vortex. Now it has also drawn the attention of an
ancient sect of Druids - allies in Buffy Summers' battle against the Undead. Craig Gardner Shaw's original
Buffy novel sees
some new arrivals in Sunnydale, as three young Druids and their uncle arrive from Wales.
The younger Druids impress Oz and Xander with
some simple conjuring tricks, but Cordelia finds herself concerned about something far
more important - the Spring Formal.
This being Sunnydale there's evil at work, in the
shape of a couple of vampires and the mis-shape of former school football hero, Bryce.
Serves him right for dating Cordelia, I guess.
At 293 pages the novel is perhaps overlong, and
could have done with some tightening up, but unlike a lot of TV spin-offs, it's a fairly
enjoyable read and well worth checking out. Back
