Following on from the death
at the end of last month's installment, Cordy and her fellow cast member are
doing their best to keep themselves alive. After all, they have the
GPS and it's only a case of outrunning the demons until their rendezvous
with the film crew in the morning, right?
Well, not exactly, as we
find out during Angel's investigation into the real-life Helm of Haraxis.
Not only does it give power over other demons, but it just happens to be
hidden in the wood where the Cordelia thinks she films the latest indie
blockbuster Everything's starting to fall into place...
With each of the strips in Dark
Horse Presents only being eight pages long, Lovely, Dark and Deep
is basically just your average one-off Angel story with a couple of
cliffhangers thrown in for good measure.
But although it's pretty
simple, the plot works quite well, with both halves of the story coming
together at the close as the two actors are rescued by Angel.
The black and white artwork
is also as effective as last month. The shadowy nature of the woods
means the monsters look suitably menacing - particularly in the last
panel. The regulars are both captured well, with Cordelia looking
simply great in her pyjamas.
Flipping the issue over, we
come to this month's other two strips - Iron Reich 3000: Heroes and Full
Throttle: Metropolis. However, as with last month, the Angel
strip is the best of the three.
