PLOT
Buffy must stop a demon
called Ragginor from taking over the world, and she only has 10 minutes to
do it. With only Willow at her side, how can Buffy destroy a demon who
is eternal - for some strange reason it involves Scarab Beetles...
ART
Richards' art actually
looks a lot better in black and white, and I only hope there's another strip
coming to DHP featuring him soon. The panels are all action
packed, and surprisingly never once does it look dull or uninteresting.
STORY
Petrie has so far had a
100% hit rate for good stories in the Buffy comic, and this is no
exception. The dialogue is great, and Petrie also reminds us that
Willow is not just there to do wiccan stuff, she is still the nerd she was
way back in season 1. The best bit has to be the ending, which adds
that bit of humour so important to the show, the bit which the regular
series of comics seem to be lacking at the moment.
OVERALL
In 8 pages you can't
exactly develop much of a story, and this issue proves that. What we
have is a quick battle to save the world, which due to the fact it only
features two characters from the show works out quite well. Petrie and
Richards are both on top form, although for the $4.50 price tag, unless
you're a Buffy completist, or will read the other stories, I'd advise
you to give it a miss; but if you do spend the $4.50, you'll no doubt enjoy
the story, although most probably think that for just 99 cents more you
could have bought a YA Buffy novel, which would keep you occupied for
much longer.

KILLING TIME
Writer: DOUG PETRIE
Pencils: CLIFF RICHARDS
Inks: JOE PIMENTEL
Letters: AMADOR CISNEROS
Reviewer: RICHARD MORGAN
ART RATING: 4/5
WRITING RATING: 4/5
OVERALL RATING: 8/10
NB: This issue also features tales of Concrete, Dirges in
the Dark, Nevermen, Devil Chef & Fish Police, but as
the majority of them are not exactly the best strips DHP has printed, I'm
leaving them out - although I have to say the Devil Chef strip by
Jack Pollock went against this rule, and was even better than the Buffy
strip.
