PLOT
Two vamps are on their nightly hunt for
food, and they spot two lovers in the park who they think will be the ideal
feast. As the male is captured, the female runs off only to be pursued
by the vampires. Cornered and alone it looks like she will be their
next victim, until something rises from the ground taking one of the
vampires with it, a being known as the Hollower.
Several months later in
Sunnydale, Buffy and Angel are battling an evil demon, unknown to them they
are being watched. They head in to check with Giles, and while Buffy
goes home, Angel goes out and gets cornered by the vampire girl who we saw
in San Francisco. We then learn that the two have a past, and that
along with Spike and Dru they were quite a foursome. But now with news
of the Hollower's return, Angel must decide whether to work with his lover's
enemies, or face the consequences...

ART
Hector Gomez finally proves her can
draw, well at least Angel and Giles. The rest of the characters are up
to his usual (bad) standard, but for once the dark and moody setting work
well with the story, adding to the atmosphere.
STORY
Chris Golden is also up to his usual
standard, and the story kicks off at an exciting pace, but whether the next
two parts will be able to keep it up is unknown at present.
OVERALL
Not as good at The Origin
mini-series so far, but for something drawn by Hector Gomez it's probably
the best issue of his to date, so go and pick it up already!
