PLOT
Yes, I never thought I'd
stay awake either, but here we are with the 9th (!!!) and Final (!!!) part
of the Bad Blood Saga.
If you've managed to keep
up (and if not for plot summaries start back with the first part, #9)
then you'll know that Selke, the doctor and the Buffy clones have Buffy at
their mercy, but this issue things take a turn around.
Buffy and the Evil Clone do
battle, and it looks like the evil one is winning, until one of the failed
clones who was looking after Buffy decides that it's better to save the
original Buffy's life than leaving the Evil Slayer to take her place, so she
pushes her into the sewer water and they both seem to die.
Meanwhile the Scooby Gang
are waiting for Buffy to arrive so they can get their float started, when a
group of vampires show up and begin to terrorize everyone, not only that but
they're being lead by Selke who has drunk too much of the Bad Blood (pun not
intended) and so now looks like a She-Hulk.
However, and as if you
couldn't guess, Buffy show's up and kills Selke, which also gets rid of the
other vampires as they were not formed in the usual Vampire way.
And so the end of another
storyline, that is if it wasn't for Spike & Dru who now have the doctor
who helped create the Slayer clones in their custody...
WRITING
If you like fight scenes
then you'll like this as Buffy battles the clone, then Selke and the Scooby
Gang battle the local vampires. Watson wraps up the story, but leaves to
many open endings; Are the clones really dead? What are Spike & Dru
doing with the doctor? Is the Bad Blood still around?
The only thing we know for
sure is Selke is finally dead, but other than that everything else is left
up in the air, and I don't want a Bad Blood II thanks.
ART
Richards work really shines
this issue as he finally gets to show us what he can do due to the many
fight scenes. His backgrounds too are starting to become far more fleshed
out, though they could still do with more detail.
However the main problem
with Richards art is the re-design of Selke, who looks bulky and almost
laughable as the oversized super-vamp, much as last issue's super clone did,
when it comes to humans and human looking demons Richards does good, but as
of yet he hasn't managed to be able to draw "real" demons.
OVERALL
If you've managed to stick
with the Buffy issues then you'll have to read this just to finally get to
know how it all ends.
Not exactly the best ending
ever, but Selke finally dies and there are some of the best drawn fight scenes
yet in the Buffy comic. And it'll be nice to see some stories by other
writers other than Watson, as while most of his stories were good he never
really had a break out story.
NEXT
ISSUE
No more Bad Blood!!!! Next
month sees the story of what happened between Buffy S3 - S4, brought to you
by a bunch of fill in artists and Doug Petrie, writer of the show! Should be
good then.
