PLOT
While
Buffy continues with her training, Selke and the Doctor continue
their plans to give Selke her looks back once again. With
her treatment starting to work, Selke decides to team up with
the local vampires to kill the Slayer, but they're not interested
and so Selke must go it alone.
Meanwhile
after being headhunted last issue, Buffy faces her first modelling
assignment, although she may have a hard time with the shoot
when she discovers why the other models never seem to age -
they're part of the Undead!

ART
If
you like Bennett's art then my advice is to pick up Marvel's
Nova and X-51: Machine Man as this issue isn't
worth the paper it's printed on. While the cover is once
of the most original yet, the inside art just doesn't look right.
From Buffy to Angel, all the character look like they could
have been drawn by Hector Gomez, not exactly the best way to
end what has been a really successful run by Bennett.
STORY
And
so we continue with the most uninteresting Buffy storyline
yet. Selke was good in her early appearances and we all
knew that after that things were not exactly over, but dragging
this return out over nine issues is a real pain! While
there is more action than last month (just) the story just doesn't
work - two-part storylines are okay, but please Dark Horse never
do this again! The thought of Buffy being a model is intriguing,
but since most modelling jobs are in the daytime, this part
of the story is just not believable.
OVERALL
Rubbish,
rubbish, rubbish! What else can I say about this issue.
If you want to save some money then my advice is not to buy
Buffy between #9 and #11 as the first act in the Bad
Blood storyline goes from bad to worse. Obviously
the people at Fox and Dark Horse had a lot to drink when they
allowed this storyline to go ahead. BACK
