THIS WEEK IN SCI-FI: 2-29 JANUARY Krause
wants more Charmed Brian Krause told Sci Fi Wire that he hopes the current seventh season of Charmed will not be the series' last. "I really don't want it to end, for The WB and for Charmed and for the fans alike," Krause said in an interview during the Television Critics Associations press tour. "We have a hundred more shows in us, for sure. It would be a shame. It's hard to even think in the realm or in the terms of how I would like to see it end." As we've reported below, executive producer Brad Kern has said that he would write a season finale if he doesn't hear from the network about the show's renewal by the end of February. Should that be the case, Krause said he would like to see a happy ending for the show's main characters. "If we were to end the show, [I'd like] to see the Charmed Ones get what they've always been after," he said. "It's that normal life and being able to contain it all and have the lovelife, where everybody finds what they want. Kind of a happily-ever-after kind of scenario." Krause said he believed the show just might draw a few more viewers later this season, when guest star Billy Zane joins the cast for a few episodes. "Piper and Leo's [lives] are in limbo and we decide to take a world-tour trip while we waiting on our sentence to get away from everything," Krause said. "That's when everything kind of falls apart and enter Billy Zane. It's really pretty fun. ... He's all over the place, just creative and wacky and fun. I mean, he's pretty awesome." back to the top McMahon
set for Charmed return Nip/Tuck star Julian McMahon is set to put the cosmetic surgeon's knife down to return to Charmed for its 150th episode. The Aussie actor, who once romanced Alyssa Milano's character Phoebe on the show, will return as Cole in the landmark episode. Not all former stars of the show are being invited back - Shannen Doherty, who quit the show amid a storm of controversy, is not a favourite to return. Producer Brad Kern says, "When she left the show, she left the show." back to the top Kern
ponders Charmed's end Charmed's executive producer Brad Kern told Sci Fi Wire that he's still does not know whether or not The WB intends to renew the series for an eighth season, adding that if he doesn't hear by late February, he'll write a series finale. "They really want the right to hold off as long as they can, and they have that right," Kern said in an interview. "I only keep appealing to them on behalf of the fans, that the fans deserve a series finale if this is going to be the last season." Kern added, "That means I need some advance notice. At the same time I don't want to hold a gun to their heads and bug them so much that they finally say, 'Listen, if you want us to tell you now then you're gone. So it's a balancing act. I'm trying to cajole them on behalf of the fans, so that I can write a series finale, if that's the way it's going to be. At the same time I don't want to force their hand prematurely and have it be bad news. "Honestly, if I don't know by the end of February I'm going to write a series finale, and if they pick up the show late, I'll have to worry about how to get out of it next year," Kern said. "But I cannot, in good conscience, not do a series finale for the fans. I'm beholden to them. We all are. Seven years is a long time, a huge commitment on their part. So if I haven't heard from [the network] by the end of February I'm writing a series finale, and if we're lucky enough to do an eighth season I'll figure out how to get out of it." back to the top Tru
Calling dead but not gone Gail Berman, president of entertainment as Fox, confirmed to reporters that Tru Calling won't be coming back - but she added that the six as-yet-unaired season 2 episodes will eventually see the light of day. "We finished six episodes of Tru Calling, and we anticipate putting them on air at somepoint," Berman told reporters at Fox's winter press tour on 17 January in Universal City, California. Berman added that the supernatural series Point Pleasant was the deciding factor in pulling Tru Calling. "What changed for us was when we saw Point Pleasant, we really felt we had a show that was incredibly compatible with The O.C.," Berman said. "So our thoughts changed, not so much about Tru Calling, but the possibility of not only having an exciting show and a winner at 8 o'clock, but also something that could really make headway for us at 9 o'clock in an incredibly competitive time period." back to the top |
