Chris
Evans: Now time for a guest. From Buffy
the Vampire Slayer and American Pie, please welcome
Alyson Hannigan.
[Aly
walks on]
CE:
Hey babe, how are you doing? [Kisses Aly] Welcome,
welcome. Take a seat. So, are you alright?
Alyson
Hannigan: I'm wonderful.
CE:
Are you enjoying yourself?
AH:
Yes!
CE:
I know you're wonderful. I do think you're wonderful by
the way.
AH:
Aw, thank you.
CE:
So, Alyson, you've been here for how long in England?
AH:
Oh dear, about a week.
CE:
Oh dear? Is it bad? Is it a bad time?
AH:
No, it's wonderful.
CE:
Don't say "oh dear", because "oh dear" means
"oh dear".
AH:
My days are all squished in.
CE:
Really?
AH:
The only reason I know it's Friday is 'cos your show is called...
CE:
Oh, thank you very much indeed. Buffy the Vampire
Slayer - explain it to me in a short paragraph. I watched
it last night. I've never seen it before, I'll be honest
with you, but I watched it last night and it had me completely
confused.
AH:
Why's that?
CE:
Probably 'cos I'm stupid, but just explain. Go on.
AH:
It's a mixture of comedy and horror and science-fiction and
drama and just all the stuff and... cool clothes.
CE:
Is it big with the kids or is it big with everybody?
AH:
It's big with everyone, because the writing is really amazing.
CE
[sarcastic drawl]: Is really amazing. Hey man, y'know.
AH:
Hey, it's an American show.
CE:
I know. Apparently it's the number one hit on all the
websites for all the shows anywhere in the world.
AH:
Nice.
CE:
Did you know that?
AH:
No.
CE:
It's true. It has more hits than The Simpsons and
all those other shows.
AH:
Wow!
CE:
So who likes it? Is it weirdoes or...?
AH:
No. No, we have the most amazing fans. I mean, yeah,
we have some weirdoes but... that's mainly who's on the show
basically.
CE:
But I think you'd like the like the weirdo fans more wouldn't
you?
AH:
Yeah.
CE:
Yeah, I think you're a bit weird.
AH:
They're fun.
CE:
[Hands Aly two video boxed sets] But this is what's going
on, if you like to just get a couple of these and give them
to people in the audience who you think might be Vampire
Slayer fans, go on.
AH:
Okay.
CE:
Just have a look there. Really do have a look.
[Aly
hands over a video]
CE:
Do you watch the show?
Girl
in audience: Yes.
CE:
What character does she play?
Girl:
Willow.
CE:
Okay, all right. Have a look for somebody else, a bloke.
[points] He's weird, graveyard weird.
AH:
Wow! I don't know...oh dear. [Thrusts a box at a
bloke in the audience] Okay here. There you go.
CE:
Do you watch the show?
Guy:
No.
AH:
He doesn't want it. [She hands the box to someone else
instead]. Here, okay.
CE:
Okay, alright. Worthers is a big fan of the show.
Worthers, have you got a question?
Worthers:
Hello chief
CE:
Hello. Have you got a question for Alyson?
W:
Yes. Alyson, if you're having fun say "yeah".
AH:
Yeah.
CE:
Okay, that was Worthers' question - "if you're having fun
say 'yeah'." Good question, wasn't it?
AH:
Yeah.
CE:
Thank you very much, Worthers. No more questions from
you. So listen, I like you in American Pie as well.
AH:
Thank you.
CE:
Can I show my favourite bit of the film?
AH:
Sure.
CE:
You know which bit is it.
AH:
Jeez, I wonder what that's gonna be.
CE:
Do you mind if we show it?
AH:
Go right ahead.
CE:
Okay, this is you rocking in American Pie. "You
know, this one time in band camp..."
Clip
from American Pie.
CE:
Do you love that character?
AH:
Oh, yeah! Definitely. I didn't know you could play
that on television.
CE:
We can now, 'cos it's 11.36 at night.
AH:
All right.
CE:
How big was that film?
AH:
Oh, it was huge.
CE:
Yeah? Everywhere?
AH:
Yes.
CE:
And you were quiet in that, and the quiet ones are the worst
they say. You're quiet in real life, so is that true for
you in real life?
AH:
Perhaps you should ask my boyfriend.
CE:
Is he here?
AH:
Err, yeah, but...no...yeah.
CE:
Have you ever been to band camp?
AH:
No.
CE:
Never?
AH:
No. But perhaps I should go.
CE:
Have you ever played the flute?
AH:
Err, yes, actually.
CE:
Have you ever stuck one up your pussy?
AH:
No.
[Massive
cheers from the audience. Aly dissolves into laughter]
CE:
Listen, have a great night in England. We're going out
later, do you want to come?
AH:
Sure. I don't have a flute.
CE:
Oh we'll find one you can bring with you. Thanks for coming,
Alyson Hannigan, by the way. BACK
