There's no giving a month's notice when Cordelia Chase decides to quit Angel Investigations.  In fact there's no giving any notice as when opportunity knocks for our Cordy, she answers.  It's just a shame that a couple of demons are behind the whole Blair Witch Project-esque film that's she hopes will give her her big break.

Not for the first time, the Buffy franchise produces a great looking black and white strip, especially the opening panel of Cordy, where she looks simply stunning.

The opening installment of this three-part DHP story sees Cordy scoring a role in an improvised film, where she and her co-stars are supposed to be tracking down the Helm of Haraxis.  The problem for the trio is that Helm Productions appears to be a front for a couple of demons (who appear to be masquerading as "Aubrey" and "Wynton") who want the real helm, and when one of the actors goes to investigate something outside their tent, he loses his head.  Literally.

The writers capture Cordy well in the eight pages we've had so far, especially when she's complaining about the script (or lack of it) and wanting retakes because she doesn't look her best.  The black and white artwork also works well.

The issue also contains two other strips: The Mask: No Mask is an Island which provides some back story but which isn't anything special, and the final part of Doc Thunder: The Red Moon - Revenge of the Crimson Cranium! which I just couldn't get into (although having read the first two parts might have helped a little).

Still, a pretty good start to the Angel story. back to the top
