CAST NEWS - ANTHONY STEWART HEAD

GILES JOINS THE LUFTWAFFE!

17.08.2000 - Any Buffy fans watching A Safe Place, the Secret Army episode shown last night (16 August) on UK Drama will have had a pleasant surprise, with an early television appearance by none other than Anthony Stewart Head (billed as simply 'Anthony Head') in the role of Hanslick.

Set in World War II, the series, which ran for three seasons from 1977-79 concerns an evasion line which tries to get RAF crewmen shot down over Belgium back home.  If that sounds familiar, that's because it was later sent up by 'Allo 'Allo, except that was set in France.

In this particular episode, first broadcast on 13 October 1979, the Germans have set up a fake evasion line in order to discover more about RAF tactics.

A pair of airmen and their guides run into a German patrol, who are killed.  Except, that their 'guides' are not what they seem, and the Germans aren't dead.  Here Hanslick makes a sudden recovery...

Hanslick reports to Reinhardt (Terrence Hardiman of The Demon Headmaster) that the airmen have been taken to the fake safe house, where their conversations are being recorded.

Oh dear!  Hanslick has to report that the RAF crew have discovered that it's a trap, killed their Germans captors and escaped...

Needless to say Reinhardt isn't impressed...

The airmen have been spotted by the old gas works, so Reinhardt orders Hanslick to scour the area...

The memorable Secret Army credit sequence - that name seems strangely familiar...
